Candyman (2021)

The original Candyman is an almost hypnotic slasher film that is set in the city of Chicago. While the original has a few direct sequels, there is a new movie entitled Candyman that is coming out on August 27th, 2021. This film is less of a literal sequel and closer to a Halloween (2018). The plot for this film is relatively unknown, all that is known is that our main characters will be moving to the same public housing building as the original. From there on out our characters slowly start to learn about the “Curse”, or the legend of the Candyman. This movie is directed by Nia Diacosta and produced by Monkey Paw, Jordan Peele's production company. I think this film potentially has the hands-on deck to bring Candyman back to the mainstream and maybe create a franchise. I think this film is incredibly interesting not only because of the main idea that was created in the ’90s, but I’m particularly interested in what they’ll do in order to make the entire idea palpable to the current day. However, they do it, with Nia Diacosta directing and Jordan Peele producing I'm positive that we will have an amazing addition to the Candyman franchise.
