The purge franchise is one that has spawned a few sequels. All while the iconic purge siren has found its way into the cultural zeitgeist. There are three current purge movies. Most of these take place on the day of the purge. If you don’t know what the purge is, it’s a period of twelve hours where all crime is legal; the only restrictions are you can’t kill any government officials above a certain level. Well as most horror movie franchises do, there is another purge film on the way entitled “The Forever Purge”. This movie, which is advertised as the last purge movie, was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Well, we got the first trailer, and with that the first bit of plot. I’ll link the trailer below but I’ll tell you what I was able to gather. Unlike the other films in this franchise, this movie takes place towards the end of the purge and afterward. It appeared things went back to normal for a bit until gangs of people started to wreak havoc as if the purge was still going on. A character says “The purge is over, please” and a member of the gang replies “No it ain’t.” Basically from that point on in the trailer it shows the gangs of people trying to stop each other and the people we follow trying to survive what is known as “The Forever Purge.”. I think this is quite interesting because it’s going to show us a little more about what happens in terms of government interference. Will they even interfere or not. This could mean that the government gets overthrown or something of that nature. The forever purge will be released on July 4th weekend 2021. While I want to wait for the plot to be released before I say how good this movie is, I think it is a very interesting deviation from the norm in most of these movies.
